His Birthdays: Recollection of the Past Three Birthdays.

It's his birthday!!
I cannot believe this is the third birthday (of David's) that we have celebrated since we were together.

The first time, I threw him a big surprise birthday party.

The things I used to do for David. Sheesh. I spoiled him way too much.

He had no idea.

The second one was supposed to be a surprise as well (I invited all his friends to SLC) but he found out.
Our friends drove through a winter storm so it turned out to be quite memorable.

We miss all our friends in Utah.

Today, we had the Bartletts over for some delicious Korean food made by yours truly.

The girls like Korean food! YAY!!!

Thank you for coming, Bartletts.

Him, her, and the cake she will finish..

My love, my light, my life, David Eng.

His birthday wish was to watch Frozen so I, being the good wife I am, obliged. Finally. Frozen!
(Yes, he is smart. He knows the happy wife, happy life rule still applies on his birthday).

I am so grateful that he is mine. All mine. Happy Birthday to the most amazing man I know.

January, thus far : Sister's Wedding

The first month of January has already come to an end.

David and Diana continue to live busy lives: Medical School keeps David on his toes and Diana's job as a Preschool teacher, well, those monsters munchkins drain her out by the end of each day. But, she is pretty sure she loves them a lot and wouldn't choose any other career than teaching.

Texas weather is so nice. We've been spoiled by this 55+ weather. We would've forgotten what snow looked and felt like if we hadn't taken our short trip to Utah in mid-January to attend Grace's wedding (Diana's sister) in Salt Lake City, UT.

Photo-bombed.

Bride, groom and the parents. Too inappropriate.

Sorry mommy. This is the only pic we both took with you so here it is.

The bride and (some of the) bridesmaids. We were lucky to attend their Temple Sealing ceremony.

Minjoo, Diana, Gracie and Rachie. Sisterly love. Friendship. Bliss

Seeeesters.

My beautiful mommy and the gorgeous bride/sister.

Bro and sis.

My bffs came to visit the day we left. Not the best picture but I am certainly lucky to have taken it with the best people: Becca and Rachie.

David and Diana and my other little sister, Emily.

The bride and (some of the) bridesmaids.

Our baby sister is married!!

Three out of the four Choi siblings. We missed Chani.

David and Diana enjoyed their trip. They were glad they were able to attend Grace and Jesse's wedding, catch up with their friends at BYU and walk down memory lane in Provo. Plus, Diana's parents spoiled them rotten. They were sad to leave Utah. However, the cold weather was a little to much for them. Utah will always be treasured in their hearts but they are glad to be back in Dallas.

P.S. Happy Chinese/Korean New Years everyone!

25th of December

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We drove down to Houston to join David's sisters and their families (later on joined by David's parents) to celebrate the birth of Christ. I cannot say it enough, but I am so grateful to have the knowledge of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Although we followed the traditions of Christmas (stockings, gifts from "Santa"), we focused on the true meaning of Christmas by remembering Him: His birth, His perfect example, the miracles He performed, and the Atonement. Let us strive to always become more like Him, whether it is Christmas or not.

What did Santa bring me, you ask? Well, "he" was nice enough to give me a camera. I tend to break everything I touch and my camera ( which I've had for the past five years) finally decided to end its life, so "Santa" was kind enough to give me a new one. Hope this camera has a longer life. Fingers crossed.

We visited Kemah Boardwalk in Houston. This is where David worked his first full-time job selling souvenirs. Guess how much he made? A whopping $5.50 an hour.

We also took a short trip down to Galveston, TX. Can I just say I am so grateful we ended up in Dallas (UT Southwestern) instead of Galveston. I'm confident to say UTMB is a great school but.... let's just say I like
 bigger cities.

Epic fail. Too funny I had to post.. We blame the wind.
Galveston beach.
A little bit better, right?

Hope everyone had a wonderful CHRISTMAS!

Autumny Winter Pictures

It's so hard to believe Christmas is next week. It's been hectic with work and school (for David) so we are very relieved to know we have next week off to celebrate Christ's birth.

One of my student's grandpa offered to take pictures of us to celebrate the upcoming holiday with no charge!
I personally think they favor me because I married a Chinese man (my student is Chinese). Nevertheless, we are so grateful. Didn't they turn out beautifully?

Doesn't it look like Fall? This was last week, mid-DECEMBER. Dallas does not have a winter!

The good-looking couple.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
LOVE, THE ENGS

Switching Gears

Two months ago on this very day, I stepped into a new job as a Preschool teacher. From that day on, I live and breathe at the Preschool. It was a big decision to return to the path of Early Childhood Education. My last year at BYU  convinced me I was inadequate to play an important role in the teaching field. Thus, I chose to switch gears and go into something else. And so I did. I was grateful to work at my previous company but honestly, something was missing. After my short trip from Korea, I prayed a lot. We needed for me to work so I felt pressured. However, I did not want to be stuck in a job just because of the income. More prayers were said. His answers quickly came. I immediately began looking for jobs that would for once put my degree to use.

It's been challenging. Though I have a B.S in Early Childhood Education, my experience in the teaching field is limited. And, the pay is .. well, we all know that teachers roll in the dough. (Btw, Early Childhood Education was named the major that gets paid the least). And, I am still recovering from my last year at BYU. I was discouraged from the major I chose.  However, I've never been happier. I am in love with my students. And, I'm quickly realizing I am learning more from them than they are from me. Happy two months kiddos!

Obviously, I cannot post pictures of my kiddos. But but here's what we've been up to for the past two months. We live a pretty exciting life. Or not.

A lot of studying..

Husband's White Coat Ceremony. So proud of my (future) MD.
Lots of silly notes
Eating healthy
Getting ready for Santa Claus.

Hope everyone is having a good month. Can you believe we have less than a month till 2014? Where did the year go?
